Game Changer - Shanghai Cooperation Organization Set to Ease Sanctions Against Iran


The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) announced today that the group will be lifting some sanctions against the embattled regime. The announcement comes after several international humanitarian NGO reported an alarming rise in poverty, malnutrition, and disease in Iran. According to the press release the SCO, of which China and Russia are the largest members will unilaterally lift all sanctions affecting the import of food, medicine, and agricultural supplies. Further, the SCO would lift the restriction on the export of Iranian oil and enter into negotiations to provide Iran with the technology and assistance needed to produce a light water nuclear reactor.
