Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal announced today a new partnership with Turkey. This announcement comes just days after Mashaal traveled to Turkey and reportedly met with Turkish Prime Minister in the prime minister’s Istanbul home. Hamas was recently forced to abandon their office in Damascus due to increasing violence and instability. In response, Hamas requested and was granted permission from Turkey to establish an office in Istanbul. In addition to the previously announced aid package to Palestine some diplomatic sources had stated that Turkey promised to provide Gazan Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh’s administration with $300 million to support its annual budget.
